The Argentine flag carrier has also confirmed a new special flight from Cancun.

April 30, 2020 – Aerolíneas Argentinas has confirmed the operation of two new special flights from London and Cancun.

The flight departing from London will arrive at Ezeiza International Airport on May 7 at 4.05 a.m. The company has not operated flights to Heathrow airport since the Rugby World Cup 2015. The regular operation of this route had been cancelled in the 1990s.

The flight departing from Cancun is scheduled to arrive in Buenos Aires on May 4 at 7.10 p.m.

Both flights are in addition to the 58 special flights already operated by the company which, starting on March 18, have allowed more than 18,000 Argentine passengers to return to Argentina from Miami, Madrid, Punta Cana, Cancun, Bogota, Quito, Lima, San Salvador de Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Pablo, Porto Seguro and Florianopolis.

It is worth mentioning that in the last few days Aerolíneas Argentinas announced a special flight from Barcelona, which is scheduled to arrive in Argentina on May 3. Said flight entails the return of Aerolíneas Argentinas to El Prat International Airport after the cancellation of its regular operation in February 2018.

“Some days ago, we confirmed a flight to Barcelona and now we are announcing a flight to London. Since these are routes we do not operate on a regular basis, the operation of these flights is even more difficult and has demanded great effort from Aerolíneas Argentinas staff,” explained Pablo Ceriani, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

It is important to highlight that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship is the authority that defines the lists of passengers based on the priorities established by health protocols. Said modality applies to exceptional flights. That is why passengers have been asked to make their requests through the consular offices.

Lastly, in addition to the special flights, the company has scheduled a total of 8 flights from Shanghai, China, with the purpose of bringing medical supplies, reagents and health materials to the country, for their distribution and use in the Argentine Public Healthcare System. The sixth of these flights will depart from Ezeiza International Airport on May 4 at 11:10 p.m.
