Aerolíneas Argentinas starts operating its new hangar

11/05/2018

Buenos Aires, May 11th, 2018 – Aerolíneas Argentinas announced the start-up of the so-called “Hangar 5”. The state-of-the-art hangar, with its 12,017 m², is one of the biggest hangars of the region. It also has a system of overhead cranes travelling along the hangar’s central area, covering the airframe and the sides of the aircraft.

Located in the industrial plant of Ezeiza’s international airport, “Hangar 5” will allow the company to work simultaneously on 2 large aircraft, known in the industry as “wide-body aircraft” or on four Boeing 737, 800 and MAX series, such as the ones operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas in its domestic and regional flights.

The building was designed as environmentally friendly, since it has energy-saving LED lighting and a rainwater reuse system for cleaning tasks. Additionally, the floor has an industrial liquid waste collection system to transport such liquid waste to an adjacent building for treatment.

“This hangar allows us to continue working and investing in safety by implementing the best technology while increasing the output capacity of our industrial plant,” expressed Mario Dell’acqua, president of Aerolíneas Group.

The hangar will be used to perform the so-called “major” maintenance tasks, i.e. those performed, approximately, every year and a half, and that require the full inspection of each of the components of the aircraft. The first work is being performed on the company’s Airbus 330-200 aircraft with registration mark LV-FNL.
