It is the LV-GVE. The coastal town was chosen to introduce the second aircraft of this type, recently incorporated to the fleet of the flag carrier, the same year it was launched into the market.

Mar del Plata, January 10, 2018.- Today, Aerolíneas Argentinas has operated a commercial flight between Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata, which will continue to Rosario, within the framework of the presentation of a new Boeing 737 MAX 8. It is the second of the five aircraft of this type incorporated to the fleet of the company. The remaining units will be delivered at the end of January, February and May of this year. It is to highlight that Aerolíneas is the first company in Latin America to operate this equipment, which is among the most modern aircraft in the market.

With a 170 seats configuration per aircraft (8 in Club Economy and 162 in economy class), its higher flight autonomy opens new horizons to the market of this type of aircraft.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 has a more comfortable layout, as well as a LED lighting system that changes color according to the time of day, adjusting its intensity. What is more, its innovative split-tip winglet design allows for a lower use of fuel, thus protecting the environment and reducing costs.

After the aircraft arrived at “Astor Piazzolla” International Airport in the City of Mar del Plata, the traditional baptism was carried out, with water arches on the runway and a brief ceremony with the presence of local authorities.

“The arrival of the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 is another sign of our company’s growth. We keep working to increase connectivity and offer a better travelling experience to our passengers,” said Mario Dell’Acqua, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas, during the event.

Mar del Plata is one of the most federally connected destinations: this summer, it is possible to get to La Feliz (“the Happy City,” as Mar del Plata is locally known) from Córdoba, Rosario, Tucumán, Mendoza and Bahía Blanca without touching the City of Buenos Aires. In turn, Córdoba serves as a connection center with other domestic and regional destinations.
