Setting new records, Aerolineas Argentinas consolidates its growth in August

07/09/2017

The flag carrier carried 13% more passengers than in same period in 2016, with an average punctuality of 84%. The historical record of passengers carried in one day was again exceeded.

Buenos Aires, September 7, 2017.- The results achieved by Aerolineas Argentinas during the month of August confirm the strong growth maintained by the company. There were increases in both passengers carried and sales, resulting from the expanded offer of destinations and frequencies and the positive results of the company's various promotions. In addition, codeshare agreements with EL AL and ETIHAD Airways were also added during August, facilitating connectivity to passengers from and to the Middle East.

The results of August, in line with the company's consistent performance during the first half of the year, show a 13% increase in passengers carried compared to 2016 and 16% in relation to the same month in 2015. During August, the Aerolineas Group carried 1,110,000 passengers, at a seat occupancy rate of 78.8%, exceeding by almost 2 percentage points the value registered in 2016.

On August 18, eve of the long weekend, Aerolíneas broke the 43 thousand passenger barrier carried in a single day, for the first time in its 67-year history. 43,079 passengers traveled that day, including the domestic, regional and international network.

The excellent monthly results were also reflected in tickets sales, with an increase of 7.1% compared to May 2016 and 21.6% compared to May 2015. These results are the consequence of various offers and payment terms in interest-free installments, banda negativa promotions and agreements with ANSES, IPS and ISSN that provide 30% discounts for retired people, among others.

"These results can only be achieved through the commitment of all company levels to the strategy we have outlined. We base our work on the search for sustainability, transparency, development of our network, safety excellence and improvement of the quality of our service", said Mario Dell'Acqua, President of the Aerolíneas Group. "With better flight connections, more punctuality and a more solid product, we are getting more passengers to choose the flag carrier," he added.
