This morning, Aerolíneas Argentinas made two important announcements in connection with its organizational culture
and its policies on gender equality: the change of the dress code applicable to female crew members, air traffic
controllers and sales representatives, and the creation of the Gender and Diversity Office.
Pursuant to the former dress code, female crew members had to wear a skirt and high-heels during take-off,
landing and at any airports. For other tasks, i.e. when providing on-board service to passengers, they were allowed
to wear trousers and shoes with lower heel heights. Starting today, all Aerolíneas Argentinas’ female personnel wearing
a uniform may choose from these two options the one that they like best and deem more comfortable, irrespective of
the tasks they are performing.
The Gender and Diversity Office shall be made up of a coordinator and a variety of working groups made up of
representatives of the different sectors of the company and of aviation trade unions.
Each working group shall address one of the following issues:
• Gender Perspective: this working group shall focus on overcoming those cultural barriers that have hindered the
existence of equality in women’s professional development, in order to guarantee equal access to positions culturally
held by men.
• Gender Identity and Diversity: this working group shall focus on promoting inclusion and implementing measures
aimed at complying with Law on Gender Identity No. 26743.
• Disabled people: this working group shall focus on the implementation of measures aimed at creating an inclusive
environment in the Company, both in connection with external parties and with its passengers.
• Violence: this working group shall address workplace violence and/or violence towards women and shall promote
educational activities pursuant to Law 27499 (Micaela Law).
From an inclusive and cross-disciplinary perspective, the new management which started in December 2019 considered
that the company needed a sector to promote a cultural change in all its other sectors.
Aimed at rooting out inequality and discrimination, this measure is consistent with the stand the Argentine Government’s
has on this issue and fosters a culture of inclusion as well as gender perspective across all sectors and levels of the company.
