Aerolineas Argentinas signs an agreement with UN Women and makes progress with its gender policies

16/07/2020

July 16, 2020 – Through its Gender and Diversity Office, Aerolíneas Argentinas has announced its

endorsement of the 7 Women’s Empowerment Principles put forward by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, to which other 3000 companies around the world have already adhered.

The seven principles that the company subscribed to with the signature of its President, Pablo Ceriani, are the following:

1. Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.

2. Treat all women and men fairly at work – respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination.

3. Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers.

4. Promote education, training and professional development for women.

5. Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women.

6. Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.

7. Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.

“At Aerolíneas Argentinas, we endeavor to create a work environment of equality which ensures respect and opportunities for

every man and woman who is part of our work teams. We are committed to gender equality and women empowerment, which

is why it is really gratifying and rewarding for us to be a part of the initiatives developed by UN Women. We have plenty of

work ahead of us,”stated Pablo Ceriani.

These principles provide an integral framework for the construction of the gender dimension within companies through the

creation of policies promoting gender equality, women empowerment, and thus, their full and equal participation in the

workplace, the market and society. Adhering to said principles also entails participating in programs for the development of

problem monitoring and follow-up initiatives. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of March, Aerolíneas Argentinas

created the Gender and Diversity Office, which is made up of a coordinator and several working groups formed by

representatives of the different sectors of the company and of aviation trade unions. Through the Gender and Diversity

Office, the company, among other things, changed the uniforms so that the staff can either wear a pair of trousers or a

skirt, and shoes with or without heels.
