Throughout the history of Cordoba, many religious orders were part of it. Still, if there is one that undoubtedly left a great legacy in this province, it was La Compañía de Jesús. Better known as the Jesuits, during their years in Córdoba, they contributed significantly to its cultural and social development. The legacy of this congregation can be seen in some of the estancias that today are a significant architectural heritage for Cordoba tourism.

These Jesuit estancias were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000: Colonia Caroya (1616), Jesús María (1618), Santa Catalina (1622), Alta Gracia (1643), La Candelaria (1678), San Ignatius (1725). In addition, in the historic center of Córdoba is La Manzana Jesuítica. This place includes the Church of the Compañía, the Domestic Chapel and the parent's residence, the landmark building of the National University of Córdoba, and the National College of Monserrat.

Thanks to its incalculable cultural value, the Jesuit Ruins of San Ignacio Miní, located one hour from Posadas, Misiones, were also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
